At Delson Elite League, we believe that excellence in basketball goes hand in hand with excellence in character. Our league upholds the highest standards of sportsmanship, respect, and professionalism—on and off the court.

Spectators and Parents

Respect the Game

  • Cheer positively for all players, not just your child or team.

  • Avoid negative comments or booing.

  • Respect officials' decisions; disagreements are not grounds for disruptive behavior.

  1. Support Good Sportsmanship

    • Applaud effort, teamwork, and good play on both sides.

    • Encourage fair play and good conduct.

  2. Respect Players, Coaches, and Officials

    • Never engage in hostile or derogatory remarks.

    • Refrain from shouting instructions — let coaches do their job.

  3. Follow Venue Rules

    • Stay in designated spectator areas.

    • Clean up any trash and respect the facility.

  4. Be a Role Model

    • Demonstrate good behavior and composure.

    • Help create a positive and encouraging environment.

*** Any spectator or parent not modeling these expectations will be subject to removal of gymnasium 

Players

Show Respect

  • Respect coaches, teammates, opponents, and officials.

  • Accept decisions without arguing.

  1. Practice Good Sportsmanship

    • Play fair and within the rules.

    • Encourage teammates and acknowledge good play from opponents.

  2. Stay Composed

    • Control emotions and avoid inappropriate behavior.

    • No taunting, trash-talking, or engaging in fights.

  3. Be a Team Player

    • Communicate effectively with teammates.

    • Follow the coach's instructions.

  4. Take Responsibility

    • Arrive on time and be prepared for games and practices.

    • Maintain good conditioning and practice regularly

Coaches

Lead by Example

  • Display good sportsmanship and encourage respectful behavior.

  • Treat players, parents, officials, and opposing coaches with respect.

  1. Promote Development

    • Focus on skill-building, teamwork, and character development over winning.

    • Provide constructive feedback and encourage growth.

  2. Communicate Effectively

    • Keep an open line of communication with players and parents.

    • Address any concerns respectfully and calmly.

  3. Follow the Rules

    • Understand league rules and ensure your team abides by them.

    • Accept official decisions and encourage players to do the same.

  4. Ensure Safety and Well-being

    • Prioritize player safety and monitor for signs of injury or fatigue.

    • Promote hydration and proper warm-ups.
